Gastric Bypass
What Is It?
Gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y) is a combined bariatric procedure that uses both restriction and malabsorption. It reduces the stomach to a small pouch of 15 to 30 ml and connects it directly to the small intestine, decreasing food intake, reducing the absorption of fats and sugars, and promoting early satiety.
